A proposal for a technology and design conference. The purpose of the conference is to bring professionals together to discuss the capabilities and responsibilities of design and technology in the food industry.
Branding for Lock7 Development in Washington, DC. The branding for this residence needed to reflect the luxurious quality of the unit. The finishes in the unit are a mix of high end traditional materials with a minimalist, modern application.
The website was designed using Square Space.
A project created to present the Bauhaus movement manifesto as well as a modern take on the ideology. The iconic "B" is represented on the two covers of the book as well as in a 3D sculpture made of wood. To convey the importance of design in all mediums, I created a wooden spine to hold the book together. The modern take on Bauhaus, in the flip-side of the book, is IKEA's business model which is based on democratic design.
Updated personal branding for Kara Lynn Design. The identity includes hand drawn logos, packaging, artist bio cards and business cards, and a catalog. The catalog features the home products I make and wholesale to galleries across the country. The products are wooden candle holders, coasters and plant holders.
Branding created for Lock7 Development in Washington, DC. Patterson Row are two luxurious units in the Atlas District. The design incorporates the cement tile design featured in the units.
The website was created using Square Space which highlighted the units floor plans, staged unit photography, neighborhood maps and contact information.
An identity designed for Cafe Bevo that is inspired by my time in Tuscany, Italy.
This stitched process booklet features handmade letters made up of hand painted flowers layered with Bebas Neue typeface. The hand painted elements were scanned then layered with the typeface in Illustrator.
When I decided to start selling my artwork at art festivals and in galleries it became a personal project to design my identity.I sell wooden coasters and candle holders as well as painting. The identity needed to reflect the style and colors of my work. The logo is translated on business cards, tags, package design and bags. I carved a handmade stamp out of linoleum. The end result gives my products a finished touch and professional look.
A set of posters and postcards created for the music festival Made in America. i layered photographs and scanned textures to give the poster depth.
Edible Brooklyn, a quarterly magazine, did not have a well designed iPad edition. I transformed the print magazine into an interactive iPad application that provides the reader with a better viewing experience. The design addresses advertising, linking to website, incorporating other media and most importantly, readability.
A catalog produced for an exhibit at the Anderson Gallery at Drake University. The show featured posters from World War I as well as two essays.
This project was a book cover redesign where I chose two novels by Annie Hawes. I used scanned watercolors that I created for texture mixed with a script typeface. The crisp watercolors on the white background gave the covers a more modern feel. Because the books are set in Italy I incorporated photos I took abroad to bring in the travelers theme of the stories.
For this project I teamed up with a group of Drake University law students to design a presentation to address a local issue. Their presentation and report was on bike laws and ordinances in Des Moines. Our design highlights this theme and presents the information in a well-designed and organized manner.
